Save Your Tooth. Lose the Fear.
Root canal treatment has a reputation it does not deserve. With modern techniques and proper anaesthetic, the procedure is no more uncomfortable than getting a filling. At Bunny Dental, our restorative dentists focus on saving your natural teeth, relieving your pain, and making sure you feel in control every step of the way.
Common Concerns We Understand
You are not alone. Here are the worries we hear most often, and how we address every single one.
I heard root canal is extremely painful
The pain you feel before root canal treatment, from the infected tooth, is the real problem. The procedure itself is performed under local anaesthetic and most patients are surprised by how comfortable it actually is.
Can I still save my tooth?
In most cases, yes. We always try to save the natural tooth before considering extraction. The earlier you come in, the more options we have. Delaying treatment almost always makes the situation more complex.
Do I need a crown after a filling or root canal?
Not always. Whether a crown is needed depends on how much natural tooth structure remains and which tooth is involved. We explain the reasons clearly and let you decide with full information.
Your Visit, Step by Step
No surprises, no guessing. Here is exactly what happens from the moment you arrive.
Diagnosis and X-ray
We take a targeted X-ray to see the extent of the decay or infection, check the roots, and confirm which treatment is needed. We show you the images and explain what we see.
Local anaesthetic
We numb the area completely before any treatment begins. We use topical gel first so you barely feel the injection. We always wait until the area is fully numb before proceeding.
Decay removal or root canal procedure
For fillings, we remove decayed tissue and restore the tooth with composite resin. For root canal, we gently clean the infected root canals, shape them, and seal them to prevent re-infection.
Restoration or crown placement
After a filling, the restoration is complete in one visit. After root canal, we may place a temporary filling first and a permanent crown at a follow-up appointment to protect the tooth long-term.
Treatment Choices Explained
Tooth-Coloured Composite Filling
White resin matched to the shade of your tooth. Completed in a single visit. Suitable for small to medium cavities on any tooth, front or back.
Root Canal Treatment
Removes infected pulp tissue from inside the tooth, cleans and seals the root canals, and relieves pain. Saves the tooth from extraction and restores function.
Dental Crowns and Bridges
Crowns cap and protect a weakened or root-canal-treated tooth. Bridges replace a missing tooth by anchoring to neighbouring teeth. Both are custom-made for a natural appearance and strong bite.
Who Benefits from This Treatment
🦧 You have tooth pain that keeps you up at night
Severe, spontaneous, or throbbing tooth pain is a strong sign of pulp infection. WhatsApp us and we will see you as soon as possible. Relief is usually felt during or immediately after the procedure.
🦷 You have a cracked or chipped tooth
Cracks can be superficial or extend into the pulp. We assess the damage and recommend the least invasive option, whether that is bonding, a filling, or a crown.
🧠 Your existing filling has broken or fallen out
Old fillings can crack or dislodge over time. A broken filling exposes the underlying dentine to bacteria quickly. Come in early and the fix is usually simple.
🥵 You have swelling or an abscess
Facial swelling from a dental abscess is a dental emergency. Please contact us immediately. We will manage the infection and pain as a priority, and plan definitive treatment once the acute phase is under control.
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you want to know before your appointment at our Cheras or Damansara Jaya clinic.
The procedure itself is performed under local anaesthetic and should not be painful. Most patients say it feels similar to getting a filling. The discomfort you feel before treatment, from the infection, is usually much worse than the procedure itself.
Most root canal treatments are completed in one to two appointments. Complex cases with multiple root canals or severe infection may need an additional visit. We give you a realistic plan at the start.
The infection will spread. Left untreated, a dental abscess can extend to surrounding bone and soft tissue. In some cases it can become a serious medical situation. Treating early is always simpler, faster, and less expensive.
In most cases, yes, especially for back teeth that bear heavy chewing force. A crown protects the tooth from fracture and ensures it lasts for many years. Front teeth sometimes only need a filling, depending on the remaining structure.
Modern composite resins are strong enough for most fillings, including back teeth. For very large restorations under heavy biting force, we may recommend a different material or a crown. We always advise the best option for longevity.
A straightforward filling usually takes 30 to 60 minutes. The time depends on the size of the cavity and how many teeth need treatment in the same session.
